Buena Vista has great rafting on the Arkansas River. Lazy floats and whitewater are both options and there are plenty of raft outfitters in the area. We have personally rafted with River Runners, Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center and American Adventures Expeditions. If you are interested in the Browns Canyon intermediate trip with River Runners, please call them at (800) 723-8987 to book one of the two trips below. The total price per person is $76.50 (25% discount). If you're feeling in shape, try hiking one of the Collegiate Peaks 14ers (and let us know if you do!). The many lakes near Buena Vista also offer beautiful hiking destinations, check the AllTrails app to find cool ones. Closer to town are trails like the Arkansas River Trail or the Midland Hill Trail.
Buena Vista has some good fishing options near town, particularly on the Arkansas River. Call a local fly shop to get the inside scoop or to hire a guide.
Enjoy the spas and hot springs at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort or Cottonwood Hot Springs Inn & Spa.
Buena Vista is apparently a haven for mountain biking. Not our favorite activity, but if you are determined to hurt yourself check out the Barbara Whipple Trail System on Midland Hill or Monarch Pass.
Bringing the sticks? The Collegiate Peaks Golf Course is a public course right outside of town.
