FAQs

We know this won't capture everyone's questions, so please reach out if anything else pops up!
Question

What should we do in between the Ceremony and the Reception?

Answer

While we stay behind for photos, enjoy lawn games and the view from the hill or explore the rest of the property while helping yourself to refreshments and light snacks. There will be covered areas for inclement weather, and consider bringing extra shoes if you plan to walk around!

Question

Is there cell phone reception at Montfair?

Answer

There is very little cell phone reception at Montfair, but there is wifi at the Event Lodge.

Question

Can I bring my pet to the wedding?

Answer

While Montfair is pet-friendly, we're asking that you please leave your pets at home. Our dog, Lucy, will be playing a special role at our wedding and she prefers to be the star of the show.

Question

Can I Uber or taxi instead of taking the bus?

Answer

We suggest taking the bus. If you know you are not going to take the bus, please let us know in your RSVP or another way. While Ubers and taxis are available, they're less reliable in the country (our wedding venue is 30 minutes from downtown Charlottesville). If you'd like to coordinate your own travel, please make sure it's scheduled for your drop-off and pick-up times, in advance. Otherwise, the busses are a great option, and we'll have multiple departure times planned for Saturday evening.

Question

Can I drive to Montfair?

Answer

We recommend taking the busses but understand some people have their own schedules! The drive from Charlottesville to Montfair is winding and hilly, so if you'd like to drive, please keep this in mind and drive safely - including remaining sober all night and being aware of wildlife crossing the road! We also recommend bringing a map or written directions in case you do not have GPS access from Montfair.

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Feel free to dress in standard cocktail attire or whatever you feel comfortable with for an outdoors wedding. For footwear considerations, we'll be getting married on grass, there are gravel roads between the ceremony and reception, and our dance floor is on a deck (so we'd recommend not wearing stiletto's!)

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The ceremony and reception are outside in a beautiful spot that you may want to explore. Dress how you would for a typical outdoor wedding, but consider bringing extra shoes if you're concerns about heels! A sweater or jacket is recommended depending on the weather. The reception will take place indoors and on the tented decks but we have the whole property to enjoy!
