St. Patrick's Day. Waterloo. A sea of drunk students wearing sweat soaked green. At the sticky beer pong table, you’d find Kate (20) and Connor (22). Some say it was love at first pong. “We’ve met before!” Kate yelled. But Connor said he didn’t remember. (Which was obviously a lie but whatever!). They said they’d meet up later, but after consuming 2-20 green beers, they did not. Fortunately, the next day, Connor found himself on the ancient website known as Facebook dot com. Several messages, pokes and emojis later, they ended up meeting for their first date at a local bar in Oakville. One pretty close to both of them. As it turned out, they lived only a couple streets away from each other and lived much of their lives in parallel. They knew the same people and went to the same places, and had fond memories of both. During the date and a nervous lull in conversation — the two look to the baseball game on TV. “When do baseball players retire? That one looks really old,” asked Kate. To which Connor replied, “That’s their coach.” He might deny it, but Kate’s pretty sure that’s when he fell in love with her. And the rest, as they say, is history.
