When we first met

We met by chance through a group of friends at a Jeremy Loops concert - although we didn’t know it at the time, we were in for a summer of many run-ins. We were both smitten and quickly learnt how to give the other a run for their money! Knowing we had little time before I had planned to leave for Australia - we made a pact to take our time in getting to know each other. Needless to say, love prevailed and we weren’t separated for very long before joining each other again in the Czech Republic!

The proposal

Strolling through Venice on a family holiday, we decided as a group to book a gondola ride - one gondola for the family and another for the love birds (as I was told). Despite a trip back to the hotel to fetch a few bottles of champagne “for the ride” and a hushed conversation persuading nonna to join us in the gondola for a “special surprise” - I was none the wiser. Once in our gondolas on the main canal with the Ponte de Rialto behind us, Roberto promptly stood up with a big nervous grin, looked over at the family gondola a short way away and muttered, “Well, this is as good a time as any!” Utterly confused, I blurted out a “Robbie what are you doing?” right before he dropped to his knee, looked up and asked me to marry him. He didn’t get a chance to say much else before I squealed “YES” and were engaged! We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you all, thank you for all your love and support for our special day!
