This story is a tale as old as time because just like in the olden days they matched on bumble. Their first phone call was on January 18, 2022 and they went on their first date on January 29, 2022. They met for dinner at WR Social House in Marietta GA. Casey arrived about five minutes late to an already seated Andy. They were both excited and a little nervous. As soon as their eyes met they both had smiles from ear to ear. They sat and talked and ate and smiled the whole time. It was lovely and sweet and they didn't want to date to end. However, mother nature had decided to have one of the coldest nights of the year and walking around the square didn't make much sense. They agreed to make plans to see each other soon and then went hiking on their very next date. It was on that hike that they both knew something felt a little different here. It was just easy and fun and they couldn't wait to see each other again. Thus began their journey of falling in love and every day making them more sure that this was meant to be.
They were on a trip to New York for Casey's performance of Vape the Musical with Sketchworks. After a wildly fun and successful weekend run they had one more day to just be tourists in the city. They had planed to spend that Sunday in Central Park, one of Casey's NYC favorites. Casey had no idea what was about to happen but Andy sure did. In fact Andy had gone on a scouting mission on Thursday to give himself some options for where to propose. They walked through the Zoo and took their time taking in the sights. Finally, right before reaching the famous Bow Bridge, Andy directed Casey down the path to the left. "It looks a little crowed that way" Andy said in reference to the direction change. They walked a little ways on that path and then onto an even smaller wooded path. Casey stopped at a beautiful spot to take a photo but there were people in the way so they chose to move on and try again on their way back. They kept moving and ran into another group partway up the trail. Little did Casey know that these were actually spots on Andy's list of spots and they all seemed to be taken. Andy had them turn around and head back the way they had come. The first spot where Casey had stopped was open and Casey stepped up to take a picture. Andy stood behind her and placed his hand in his pocket at the ready. Just before pulling the ring out, Casey yelled "Oh look! A dead fish!" Andy quickly decided to abort this location and on they went again. Clearly Casey was still in the dark about what was unfolding. Just before getting all the way back to Bow Bridge, a clearing opened up in a popular photo op location and it happened to be one of the spots he'd scouted. Andy seized the moment. They took a selfie and then turned around to take more pictures of the view. Andy put his arm around Casey as they looked out over the lake. Suddenly, Casey could feel Andy's other arm moving and reaching and then she heard Andy say "Casey". And it was the way he said it. That is when she finally knew what was happening. She turned to see Andy dropping to one knee with tears in his eyes. An accordion player who just happened to be playing on a bench near by began playing something romantic. It was at this moment they both blacked out. Thankfully Casey remembers what Andy said. "Casey I love you so much and I want you to be my forever and always. Will you marry me?" Casey immediately said “yes!” with eyes full of tears and they embraced to the sound of cheers all around them. It was the sweetest, most perfect, special and intimate moment that they will never forget. They sat on a nearby bench to catch their breaths and cried and laughed as they suddenly thought..."Did I say Yes?" "Did I ask?" And of course they had but the adrenaline in the moment gave them both the feeling that they had blacked out. They spent the rest of the afternoon just enjoying this feeling and keeping it all to themselves for just a little while. They took a ton of photos all over Central Park. Eventually they called family and broke the news to shouts of excitement. They ended the day with a lovely Italian dinner and a Broadway show and closed the night with drinks and toasts from friends. New York City will forever be one of the most special places on earth for them.
