Little did we know, that when we booked this weekend for our wedding, it was also the same weekend as Nascar! With that, we are adding this to our list of things to do. We have actually been to it a couple times to watch Gabe's dad, DJ, race! There will be multiple events throughout the weekend so be sure to check this out if you are a racing fan.
Keller Estate is a winery and Estate located in the heart of the Petaluma Gap that prides themselves on their chardonnay, pinot noir and syrah. They are open by appointment only and have winery tours available upon request. On this tour, you will experience the Estate, a wine cave, and two car collection rooms as well as enjoy the tasting of 6 wines.
Barber Cellars is a family winery dedicated to hand crafted, high quality wines made from their small, organically farmed vineyards. The Barbers’ style of wine is more elegant and spice driven with brighter acidity and lower alcohol. Their goal is to create new world wines with old world sensibilities: food friendly wines of elegance and complexity that honestly showcase the differences of individual terroirs and individual vintages with fruit from small lots of their organic vineyards.
Growing between notorious fault lines in the heart of Bennett Valley, their wine embodies the Sonoma terroir. First established as a vineyard in 1880, they exploit the unique microclimates and extraordinary terroir to make earth-shattering wine.
Following the legendary success of his professional race team The Racers Group (TRG), Kevin and his wife Debra opened Adobe Road Winery in the heart of Sonoma County in 2002. Their goal, to craft wines that exemplify the true essence of California’s most revered winegrowing regions. This tasting room is a blast and the bottles of wine themselves all have stories behind their designs. Definitely put this at the top of your list for wine tasting rooms in the area.
This is the only winery in Sonoma County that specializes in producing award-winning ports and after-dinner wines. The tasting room and winery are tucked into the historic Foundry Wharf in downtown Petaluma, California. The tasting room is open for tastings Thursday – Monday from Noon to 5pm. Reservations are encouraged. The last tasting of the day is at 4pm, as the tastings are designed to last for 45-60 minutes. Highly recommend ending your tour around Petaluma with this tasting room to enjoy the sweet dessert wines they have on hand.
Brewsters Beer Garden is located in the historic district of downtown Petaluma. It is an open-air dining restaurant with over 350 seats. The cuisine is influenced by Southern Carolina BBQ and a smattering of locally sourced and sustainably raised Petaluma producers and ranchers. Think southern BBQ meets California produce with a refined touch of explosive flavors. The dining space compliments the food perfectly as guests are treated to outdoor seating in a historic setting, with the comforts of large heat lamps, fire pit and live music stage. They offer an array of over 30 revolving local craft beers on draft, Sonoma and Napa Valley wine, and a full selection of spirits and cocktails.
Much of Petaluma revolves around wine, but if that is not your thing, then don't worry! This place is for you. The Lagunitas Brewing Company began on a kitchen stove in Northern California in 1993 and has been crafting hop-forward beers ever since. If you are looking for a place that serves your favorite Swedish classics, this is the place! It is not your typical sit down restaurant, but the food is still AMAZING. Per Casey's dad, it reminded him of Nana's cooking and you can't go wrong with that!
Although we did not eat here yet, it was a restaurant that was recommended by almost every local we met. Easy Rider is a contemporary Southern restaurant & cocktail bar embracing the bounty of Sonoma County. The menu and wine list change with the seasons, with over twenty wines by the glass and a selection of hyperlocal craft beers. You can also join them on Saturdays and Sundays for brunch!
