In the Fall of 2017, Matt and Carley both randomly ended up on the same hall in Corbett dorms at Colorado State University. Matt was in room A218 and Carley was two doors down in room A214. Carley and Matt developed a good friendship that freshman year. There were several long talks about so many different things. One night, Carley went outside to pick up a Cosmos pizza from the delivery driver. Matt could tell something was on her mind, so he went with her. What should have been a quick run downstairs turned into a long conversation, and by the time they came back inside, it was safe to say the pizza was cold. Although this was still a platonic relationship, their conversations brought them even closer together as friends. Their friendship extended into the summer when Matt’s summer internship opportunity took him to Wisconsin…just 25 minutes from the town Carley grew up in. Matt and Carley met up that summer in Wisconsin to attend a concert with some friends at Summerfest, an annual music festival in Milwaukee. They returned to CSU in the fall and Carley invited Matt to an on-campus ministry night. They both began to be very involved with the Christian group. That next winter, the inevitable happened, and Matt and Carley began dating. During their time together, they decided individually that God wanted them to attend their student ministry’s summer program entitled Kaleo. Kaleo was designed to build your faith and knowledge of the Bible while also placing an emphasis on being open with your faith and creating disciples. While at Kaleo, they each decided it was not a good time for them to date, as they both wanted to grow more individually with God. For the next almost two years, Carley and Matt went about their lives separately. They did not reconnect until Matt was studying abroad in the Czech Republic, and they began to build their friendship again. Covid sent Matt home earlier than planned. That following summer, Carley and Matt stayed connected throughout the summer and fall. They continued their friendship since they enjoyed each other’s company so much. After a while of growing their friendship along with long conversations about how much they had each grown, they decided to try again. They made it official in the beginning of 2021 that they were a couple once again! Placing more of an emphasis on God being the center of the relationship this time around paid great dividends! Two years and many, many adventures later, Matt proposed to Carley!
