Kris wanted to go on a quick weekend get away for his birthday, so we decided on NOVA . We both enjoy wine and visiting vineyards so we planned a weekend of tastings. I didn't realize he had a specific plan for one of the days. On the 2nd day of our trip he just told me we had somewhere to be. He finally told me that we had somewhere to be by a specific time so I hurried to leave. He would not tell me where we were going, saying it was a surprise. We pulled up to a vineyard I really wanted to visit, Potomac Point. He told me the surprise was that they serve brunch and mimosas on Sundays. He knows how much I love both of those things. We sat outside on their upstairs patio alone enjoying view of the vineyard grounds and each other. After finishing, we prepared to do a tasting when he said he needed to put his charger in the car. When he returned he asked if I had seen the tower in the building. I looked up the spiral staircase thinking how cool. I saw an interesting look on his face as if he were sad I didn't walk up. I asked if he wanted to go to the top and he said yes. We walk to the top of the tower, which provides a 360 view of the vineyard grounds. I began taking video of the view and when I finished I started to make sure it saved properly. As I was finishing he asked me if I knew where we were. With a confused look on my face I said "Potomac Point". He says "no the name of where we are standing right now". Confused, I say no and he nervously says "Proposal Tower". I turn to look at him and he goes down on one knee. He asks me to marry him, but it took a while for me to stop asking if he was serious. I finally say YES! He then explains he had been recording the entire exchange to share with my family. I never noticed! After, we went down to enjoy a tasting. We were surprised with champagne by the owner who heard he proposed. After leaving the vineyard he surprised me with tickets to my first WNBA game to finish off our day. It was an unforgettable day!
