OUR FAVORITE PLACE IN NASHVILLE. We love it so much we are having our wedding ceremony here. Charlie spends nearly every day running the greenways. Shelby Park is a 300-acre multi-use park just two miles from Downtown Nashville along the Cumberland River. If you're looking to spend some time outdoors, yet still remain close to the city, this is your place.
Located in the heart of Germantown, The Nashville Farmer's Market is one of our favorite places to go on Saturday or Sundays (8AM-4PM). We first lived in Germantown when we moved to Nashville and spent a lot of time here and at the park it is in. Highly recommend!
Our #1 recommendation, by far, for anyone with access to a vehicle. Approximately one-hour outside of Nashville, this experience will show the natural beauty that the state of Tennessee has to offer. We take our out-of-town guests here often. Rutledge Falls does not require a hike and features a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. If you want to get a hike in as well, Machine Falls is located just a few miles down the road ("Short Springs Natural Area" on your GPS for parking). If you decide you want to check either of these out, reach out to Charlie for additional pro-tips!
The Parthenon in Nashville is the world’s only exact-size and detail replica of the original temple in Athens, Greece. This is such a sight to see and located in a gorgeous park (Centennial Park) over by Vanderbilt University's campus.
The Ryman is Nashville's most iconic stage and home to the former Grand Ole Opry. It is a beautiful venue. If you want to see music while in Music City, we highly recommend checking out The Ryman. Jason Isbell will be at The Ryman for 4 nights starting 10/12.
Catch a show or go bowling (or both at the same time!) at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville. They also have a restaurant downstairs. Briston Maroney will be at Brooklyn Bowl 10/12-10/14. If you are interested in tickets for the show, let Charlie know-we may be able to get them comp'd for you.
For nearly 100 years, the Opry has been home for country music's greatest talent and today remains enormously influential in the genre's growth and change across the world. The Opry is the biggest stage in country music and a must-experience for any music fan. Artist Colbie Caillat will be at the Grand Ole Opry on 10/13.
Geodis Park is the home of Major League Soccer club Nashville SC. It is a beautiful stadium and so much fun to attend a soccer game. Nashville will play New England at the park on 10/14.
Eastside Bowl is our favorite bowling alley. The design inside is a sight to be seen in itself. They have amazing food as well in their retro diner, "Chark's Laneside Diner", . We recommend the Shepard's Pie! They also have a music venue in the back of Eastside Bowl and Neil Frances will be playing there Saturday, 10/14/23 at 8pm.
Broadway-not for the faint of heart! Although this is not somewhere we choose to hang out, we do suggest getting to experience it if you haven't ever visited Broadway. Specifically near "Broadway", we prefer a little area called "Printer's Alley." If you're looking for food while you're exploring Broadway, we recommend the Assembly Food Hall, which has a lot of local fare and a little something for everybody! Located between Third and Fourth Avenues and running from Union Street to Commerce Street, this small stretch was once the base of Nashville’s publishing industry, served as the city’s nightlife hub during and long after prohibition, and provided a launching point for many musical careers. Now, Printer’s Alley continues to thrive and grow as shops, bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues beckon to locals and tourists alike, offering a unique experience off the beaten path of Lower Broadway.
The Fox is our favorite bar in town! They are know for their creative cocktails and warm atmosphere. The owners are our friends (who will be celebrating with us!) and we love supporting them. Dress code is casual dress.
Urban Cowboy is one of our favorite hang spots. The main house is home to their Parlor Wine Bar, with nightly live music performances by some of Nashville’s best artists. The Public House is their bar ‘out back’ – housed in an old carriage house and equal parts local watering hole / cocktail lover’s paradise. Roberta’s pizza, famous from Brooklyn, serves up wood-fired pizza right in their own backyard. You will leave leave inspired!
Dino's is a must-see in East Nashville. It is our favorite dive bar...probably ever! They also have delicious late night (open until 3am!) food options from burgers & fries to chicken sandwiches. Dino's was voted Top 3 Burgers in the country by Bon Appetit Magazine and visited by the one and only, Anthony Bourdain for his "Parts Unknown" show.
Rudy's Jazz Room is located closer to downtown Nashville. They serve classic New Orleans prohibition cocktails, local brews, and New Orleans cuisine. Their kitchen closes at 12:30am on Friday and Saturday nights and 10:30pm Sundays through Thursdays. They only allow 21 and up and usually have a small cover. Rudy's always offers authentic jazz music in an intimate setting. Some of the best jazz musicians in the world have performed here.
Our favorite coffee shop in Nashville! Our sweet friends own it (the same ones who own The Fox) and we love supporting them. They have locations in East Nashville, Germantown and downtown. They also have delicious breakfast. We recommend the breakfast burritos!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED dining experience. Located in Germantown, Monell's provides traditional southern fare and a very unique experience at "community tables". This is our favorite breakfast in town, but they also serve lunch and a "midnight country breakfast" until 3AM on Saturday evenings. There is a second location next to the airport- Monell's at the Manor.
Snooze is one of our favorite places to eat breakfast in East Nashville! It also has a beautiful patio with outdoor seating if the weather is nice. It's crowded on the weekends so avoid "peak" brunch hours.
This is one of our favorite dinner spots in East Nashville. Boasting an Israeli inspired menu, Butcher & Bee sources their ingredients locally. We highly recommend the whipped feta dish. It is **chef's kiss**
Lockeland Table is right across from Urban Cowboy and offers a more traditional dinning experience with indoor and outdoor seating. They offer American fare and even have a community hour Monday-Saturday 4-6pm. Reservations are encouraged.
