Truckee River Walk

Truckee River Walk, Reno, NV

If you want to do something walking distance from The Renaissance Hotel or The Whitney Hotel - this is a great activity. There is a paved walkway that runs parallel with the Truckee River and is a really nice and easy walk. There are a couple parks along the way where you can hang out, take in the view of the river and enjoy the weather.

Nevada Museum of Art

160 West Liberty Street, Reno, NV 89501
, (775) 329-3333

This is the local art museum in Reno! It's a really cool building and they usually have very interesting and impressive exhibits for such a small museum. You can check out their website to see what they will have showing during our wedding week and plan a trip to check it out! The museum has a cafe serving cocktails, coffee, snacks and sandwiches (check the museum website for hours). There is also a great wine and cheese board restaurant (The Cheese Board American Bistro & Catering Company) right behind the museum on California Street.

Pats Knob Hike

This is a more difficult hike that has a great view of Lake Tahoe! There is plenty of street parking, just keep in mind you are parking on the side of a two-way highway so just be cautionary when slowing down to get ready to park. Dogs are definitely allowed on or off leash. Do not recommend bringing young kids on this hike unless you can carry them on your back. Please make sure to follow the map closely! Attached is the "AllTrails" link!

Tahoe Meadows Trails and Recreation Area

This is a really easy and cute hike at the top of Mount Rose. It is a short loop, but if you are driving over the mountain anyways to get to Tahoe, it's a great place to stop and check out. There is plenty of street parking, just keep in mind you are parking on the side of a two-way highway so just be cautionary when slowing down to get ready to park. The trail is boarded and really easy to walk on (great for bringing young kids or dogs). Attached is the "AllTrails" link so you guys get a better idea for what it's like!

Sand Harbor Beach

NV

Sand Harbor Beach is a very popular beach on the east side of Lake Tahoe - it's a sandy beach with great swimming access to the beautiful glacier water of Lake Tahoe. This beach is ran by the State Parks so it is protected and kept very clean. The beach is open from 7am-7pm and has an entrance fee of $10 for Nevada vehicles and $15 for Non-Nevada Vehicles. This beach can get crowded fast, especially on weekends - so we recommend heading their early like 8AM or going in the later afternoon 3PM (check the website closer to the dates to see if reservations are available). When you are driving to Sand Harbor from Incline Village there is signage along the road that will let you know if parking is closed at Sand Harbor when the yellow light is flashing - this gives you a heads up before you make the drive over. This beach does not allow dogs!

Kings Beach State Recreation Area

Bear Street, Kings Beach, CA 96143
, (530) 523-3203

We haven't been to this beach recently but if you are staying in Tahoe Vista or Kings Beach area, this is a great public beach (per friends). The park area is dog friendly (need to be on leashes), but dogs are not allowed on the actual beach. It is $10 for parking. If the parking lot is full, search for street parking availability.

Emerald Bay State Park

138 Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 541-3030

This is a popular site seeing activity for Lake Tahoe visitors. You have to drive to this location and find parking at the "Emerald Bay State Park Lookout." There is a fee for parking $3 per hour or $10 for the day. You can walk around the lookout and take in the views. Dogs are not allowed at the park - but we have definitely brought our dog Theo there and have just been sneaky about it. It can get very crowded there with limited parking, so be prepared to wait for parking especially on weekend days. Also, if you are staying in North Lake Tahoe or Reno, the drive can be long with windy roads. Just take your time and be careful!

For all the days along the way
