How We Met

12.23.2012

Our love story did not begin in the traditional way. We always had a connection and a friendship that started when we first met in middle school. We started talking for the first time for a brief period in 8th grade. I thought for sure we would date, but it wasn't meant to be. We were still so young with a lot to learn. We reconnected sophomore year in high school and dated for a short time, but again it just wasn't the right timing. Finally, we officially became a couple senior year in high school in December 2012, and in typical Charlie fashion, he asked me to be his girlfriend on 12/23/12, his father’s birthday. Through the years, we always remained close friends despite our back and forth connection. One of my main memories before we officially became a couple was practicing soccer together. I could always count on Charlie to meet me at the field to practice. One time, when we were doing a 1 vs 1 drill, I tripped on Charlie's foot and was headed for a face plant. Luckily, Charlie's hand wrapped around my waist mid-fall catching me before I hit the ground. While it may sound insignificant to most, I still remember that day today as if it were yesterday. Although it still took some time since that day for us to officially get together, I knew then that Charlie was the man for me. I knew without a doubt that he would be my rock, my constant, and my steady hand to catch me when I faltered. Although our story may not be typical, and it took some time for us to get together and eventually get engaged, we truly believe only the best love stories happen this way!

The Proposal

8.10.2023

On August 10, 2023 at Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club in North Hampton, NH, after more than 10.5 years together, Charlie proposed to me on the 2nd hole. He didn’t waste any time because he thought we were only golfing 9 holes, not 18. I had just sunk a putt, turned around after picking my ball up from the cup, and there Charlie was down on one knee asking, "Will you marry me?" To say I was shocked would be an understatement! I was in complete shock and honestly can’t remember the next few seconds. No words came out of my mouth. After seeing the concern on Charlie's face I realized I hadn't responded and finally said "Yes, of course I will marry you!" We spent the rest of the round excitedly FaceTiming our loved ones to tell them the good news. Once we finished golfing, we quickly went shopping and bought some clothes at Marshalls. We were actually on vacation that week and hadn’t brought any outfits suitable for engagement photos. We then headed to the beach to take some pictures as a newly engaged couple. It truly was a fitting engagement for us since we've always been a sporty, competitive couple with a love for the outdoors, beach and ocean. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives together and with all you!
