Highly recommended! Get there by land or sea. Pick and shuck your own oysters while you sip on a glass of rose near the beach. It's a very popular place in the summer months so the earlier you can get there, the better.
Take the scenic route and explore the island.
Check out whale bones, learn some history and buy a shirt from the gift shop. Anyone want to adopt an orca?
Located right in Roche Harbor, you can rent a kayak or paddleboard for the day and explore the harbor.
A great place to sit, have lunch and some beers on a dog-friendly patio. Aaron recommends the fruity IPA :)
Check out local varietals and Washington wines in a newly renovated tasting room!
Another great way to explore the island. We suggest getting an electric bike unless you're looking for a good workout.
Within walking distance from Roche Harbor. We love this place and visit it nearly every year for a botanical gin and hard cider tasting. They only do tastings on Saturdays but you might be able to schedule an appointment on a different day - inquire on their website. If you're not able to schedule a tasting with them, you can buy their products at the local markets.
The McMillin Mausoleum is a memorial for the family that started the lime business at Roche Harbor in the late 1800s. Rumored to be haunted, and it's not uncommon to find candle wax on the table leftover from spiritual gatherings. For an extra spooky experience walk there at night - no flashlights allowed :)
Go hang out with some of our favorite locals from J-pod.
