Things To Do

We've been vacationing in Roche Harbor together every summer for the past 7 years and have tried pretty much everything the island has to offer. We're so excited to share some of our favorite experiences with you.

Westcott Bay Shellfish Co.

904 Westcott Drive, Friday Harbor, WA 98250
, (360) 378-2489

Highly recommended! Get there by land or sea. Pick and shuck your own oysters while you sip on a glass of rose near the beach. It's a very popular place in the summer months so the earlier you can get there, the better.

Susie's Moped Rentals

125 Nichols Street, Friday Harbor, WA 98250
, (360) 378-5244

Take the scenic route and explore the island.

The Whale Museum

62 First Street North, Friday Harbor, WA 98250
, (360) 378-4710

Check out whale bones, learn some history and buy a shirt from the gift shop. Anyone want to adopt an orca?

Kayak & Paddeboard Rentals

248 Reuben Memorial Drive, Friday Harbor, WA 98250
, (360) 378-1962

Located right in Roche Harbor, you can rent a kayak or paddleboard for the day and explore the harbor.

San Juan Island Brewing Co

410 A Street, Friday Harbor, WA 98250
, (360) 378-2017

A great place to sit, have lunch and some beers on a dog-friendly patio. Aaron recommends the fruity IPA :)

San Juan Vineyard

3136 Roche Harbor Road, Friday Harbor, WA 98250
, (360) 378-9463

Check out local varietals and Washington wines in a newly renovated tasting room!

Meat Machine Cycles

22 Web Street, Friday Harbor, WA 98250
, (360) 370-5673

Another great way to explore the island. We suggest getting an electric bike unless you're looking for a good workout.

San Juan Island Distillery

12 Anderson Lane, Friday Harbor, WA 98250
, (360) 472-1532

Within walking distance from Roche Harbor. We love this place and visit it nearly every year for a botanical gin and hard cider tasting. They only do tastings on Saturdays but you might be able to schedule an appointment on a different day - inquire on their website. If you're not able to schedule a tasting with them, you can buy their products at the local markets.

The McMillin Mausoleum

664 Afterglow Dr, Friday Harbor, WA 98250

The McMillin Mausoleum is a memorial for the family that started the lime business at Roche Harbor in the late 1800s. Rumored to be haunted, and it's not uncommon to find candle wax on the table leftover from spiritual gatherings. For an extra spooky experience walk there at night - no flashlights allowed :)

Whale Watching

248 Reuben Memorial Drive, Friday Harbor, WA 98250
, (866) 810-1483

Go hang out with some of our favorite locals from J-pod.

For all the days along the way
