Of the six beaches in the Charleston area, Folly Beach is our favorite. Zach enjoys kiteboarding here and we love the laid-back atmosphere. One of our favorite restaurants on Folly is Rita's Seaside Grille.
Our favorite spots downtown Charleston include the Battery and White Point Gardens, Waterfront Park, King Street and the City Market area. If you love history, take a guided walking tour or a ferry to Fort Sumter National Park. There are too many excellent restaurants to mention!
Shem Creek is located in Mount Pleasant, SC just over the bridge from downtown. From paddle boarding to dolphin sightings along the dock, ice-cold buckets of beer and great seafood, it is the perfect place to relax. One of our favorite spots is Red's Icehouse. Daily catamaran cruises of the Charleston harbor also depart from Red's.
Originally a rice plantation, Magnolia was founded in 1676 and is considered the oldest public garden in America. We recommend the nature tram to discover wildlife, native plants, and the history of rice cultivation in the area.
As passionate naturalists, this company offers kayaking, paddle boarding, boat tours, and fishing packages. After your adventure, stop at Bowen's Island restaurant for a seafood dinner, cold beer, and a great "low country" view of the marsh and river.
