Lucas and I met at Trinity Lutheran School in the 3rd grade after Lucas and his family moved from St. Louis, MO to Long Island, NY. Our brother's, Peter and Johnny became best friends, so it made sense that Lucas and I became friends too. NO. We did not date in the third grade.... Instead Lucas and I grew up as friends playing kickball together, attending church events, going on mission trips, and spending time with the same group of friends (Many of whom who will be at our Wedding!). On May 21st, 2010, Lucas and I shared our first kiss (We were in the 8th grade). We started officially dating on November 16, 2011 when we were just 15 years old (10th grade). Since then we've grown up together facing every challenge, success, and even failure, but always done so hand in hand. Now just 10 and a half years later, and on the 12 year anniversary of our first kiss, we get to say "I do" and start the rest of our lives together as one.
On the day Lucas asked me to "officially" be his girlfriend I waited all day for him to ask me out. Our Engagement was no different. Lucas and I had talked about being married for a long time, and now that we were both finished with school and have full time jobs, we felt there were no more excuses after being together for so long. On our 9 year Anniversary, Lucas took me out to Eastern Long Island where we spent the day at the Aquarium and exploring the area. He said that we would be going to a nice dinner that night, so it would be good for me to get a new outfit for dinner (I thought... This is it... He could be proposing!). I of course took about 2 hours to pick out a simple outfit (Shoutout to my sister for the help), and to my surprise Lucas said our dinner would be in his hometown, Huntington, NY. On our way back I said we should stop by our favorite park, Heckscher Park, before dinner. Heckscher has always been one of our favorite spots to spend time together, so since I had the inkling Lucas might propose, what better place could there be! Finally we arrived at the park and walked to our favorite spot where I started to look at the turtles, and Lucas began talking about all of the time we were together and how he loved me. I then turned to walk to the other side of the dock when Lucas said "Stop, maybe go over there." At that point my suspicion of a proposal became reality when I turned to see Lucas down on his knee, and of course I said yes! Shortly I learned that Lucas planned for our good friend, Dylan, to be there to take pictures of our special day (which is why Lucas asked me to turn around so he wouldn't get caught). Although our engagement wasn't exactly a "surprise" it was still perfect and everything I could have dreamed of. We are so excited to get married, and look forward to celebrating with our friends and family!
