Things To Do/Eat

Beacons Beach

Beacons Beach

948 Neptune Ave, Encinitas, CA 92024

This is one of our favorite beaches in North County San Diego. It is one of three access points off the street, Neptune. This street is 2 miles and one way that has a variety of different quirky and extravagant homes on the beach bluffs. Walking or driving down this street to look at the homes on your way to access the beach is an Encinitas favorite! Beacons has a small parking lot and a short switchback ramp to access the beach from the bluff. There are two others beaches off this street - Stonesteps which is just south of Beacons and has stairs to access; Grandview which is just north of Beacons and also has stairs to access.

Moonlight Beach

Moonlight Beach

Moonlight State Beach - 400 B Street, Encinitas, CA 92024

The most popular beach in Encinitas - no stairs to access the beach and has a designated parking lot and volleyball courts. It can get busy but is a great beach!

Ponto Beach

Ponto Beach

Ponto Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92011

Another great North County beach. This beach is the closest of all listed to Omni La Costa Resort and is best beach for kids. It has a parking lot and is flat so there are no bluffs or stairs to have to climb down.

La Jolla Cove

La Jolla Cove

1100 Coast Blvd. (at Girard Ave), San Diego, CA 92037

About 20 miles south of Carlsbad, CA, La Jolla is a great part of San Diego to walk around, shop, eat and look at the beautiful beaches and seals!

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

12600 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla, CA 92037

About 25 miles south of Carlsbad and 15 miles north of the San Diego Airport, Torrey Pines State Reserve is the ultimate place for hiking! You can spend the day with steep climbs or enjoying more laid-back paths. They all have beautiful views!

Rudy's Taco Shop

Rudy's Taco Shop

7662 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009

Everyone (especially Texans) need to try some California Mexican food! Rudy's is one of our favorite burrito spots in Carlsbad and very close to the wedding venue. We recommend a breakfast burrito or a California burrito with avocado. You can't go wrong with either. Fish tacos are great as well. They taste even better if you get one and eat it on the beach!

Karina's Taco Shop

Karina's Taco Shop

916 North Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, CA 92024

Another excellent burrito/taco shop! This restaurant is only open until 5 pm so works as a great lunch spot. Once again - we recommend a California burrito. It is right by Beacons beach so perfect to grab and go enjoy with a view at the beach!

Pannikin Coffee & Tea

Pannikin Coffee & Tea

510 North Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, CA 92024

A very cute yellow coffee shop on Highway 101 in Encinitas. A great spot to sit outside and enjoy a cup of Joe and some breakfast.

Culture Brewing Co | Encinitas

Culture Brewing Co | Encinitas

629 South Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, CA 92024

A great local brewery. They have 2 locations in North County - Encinitas and Solana Beach.

Batiquitos Lagoon

Batiquitos Lagoon

7380 Gabbiano Ln., Carlsbad, CA 92011

A lovely flat trail that follows the lagoon - about 3 miles.

San Diego Zoo

San Diego Zoo

2920 Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA 92101

One of the best zoo's in the country. A great spot to check out with or without kids.
