Where it Begins

First comes high school, then comes marriage

Carlie and MJ met at Jack Britt High School (Fayetteville, NC) in 2011. For those who know them from the beginning, they are the epitome of the phrase "opposites attract." MJ considered himself to be the "popular" athlete and always referred to Carlie as the "nerd." Along with sharing classes together, they began to build their friendship during the football season. MJ played football and Carlie tended to him as an athletic trainer. Once their friendship took off, they started dating on May 5, 2012, which was also their prom night. Soon after, they headed to college to pursue their dreams; MJ pursued his love for football and a degree in Sports Management at NC State University, and Carlie obtained her degree in Biology at UNC Pembroke. During their time in college, they were blessed with the presence of their son Trè in October of 2014. They have continued to grow as significant others and as parents. We want to give God thanks for his continuous blessings that he has showered over their union throughout their journey. The soon to be Salahuddins are excited to share this moment with you! Hope to see you soon!

The Proposal

December 7, 2017

After walking across the stage, MJ and my mom put together a graduation dinner for friends and family to celebrate my accomplishment. Once we were done eating, people were asked to share stories and memories. Lastly, MJ begins to speak and Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" started to play in the background. He grabs the microphone and towards the end of his speech, he drops to one knee and pops the question! I said YES and from there, we were engaged! We're excited to share this moment with you! See you in September!
