Candace and Yaw met in the Fall of 2004 at a Homecoming party thrown by her alma mater, SUNY/Brockport. They met, danced, chatted and danced some more. At the end of the evening, Candace refused to give him her phone number but took his, with no intention of ever dialing it. Unbeknownst to her, one of Candace’s best friends met Yaw the week before at his alma mater, SUNY/Oswego. Brian was nothing but complimentary of Yaw when Candace asked about him and advised her to give Yaw a call. She obliged. One call turned into a daily conversation, which then turned into late night conversations via AOL Instant Messenger and eventually weekend visits to each other’s schools. Each of them graduated with Bachelor’s degrees in 2005. Yaw moved to Connecticut to pursue his career in television, while Candace moved back to New York City to work for a Non-Profit organization. They stayed in contact and continued to see each other whenever Yaw visited New York on his days off and when Candace made her weekend visits to Connecticut. In November of 2008, they finally decided to make it official and become an item. On November 11th, 2016 Yaw finally proposed to Candace at one of their favorite restaurants, The Meatball Shop. We have grown so much and learned so much about each other over the last 12 years. It has been mentioned to us that our differences in personality give us a natural balance that couples covet. We pray that we continue to grow physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually…. together. It would be an honor for our families and close friends to share this union with us on March 30, 2018. We are eternally grateful for the place you have in our lives and can’t wait to celebrate with you. You all hold a very special piece of each of our hearts.
