Yes! Several local vineyards have tasting rooms in downtown Fredericksburg including Narrow Path Winery and Vineyard, Becker Vineyards, Grape Creek Vineyards, and more.
Of course! If it's your first visit to our city, the San Antonio Riverwalk is a must. We recommend Boudro's and their tableside guacamole if you grab a bite to eat. One of our favorite parts of the city is the Pearl District, here you will find restaurants, shopping, and a beautiful hotel (check out the library). You can't go wrong with any of the restaurants you find in this area. Southtown or the King William District is home to excellent food including Tito's Mexican Restaurant (Matt's favorite), Maverick Texas Brasserie, Rosario's, Battalion, and La Frite Belgian Bistro. The homes in this area are also worth a look! You can't come to San Antonio without seeing The Alamo, if this interests you, we also recommend Mission Trails. If you are looking to spend some time outdoors, Natural Bridge Caverns, Japanese Tea Gardens, and the San Antonio Botanical Garden are all great options.
Yes! Austin has many different areas to explore with a great music and food scene. We recommend a walk through South Congress where you will find eclectic shopping and many of Austin's famous murals. Joann's Fine Foods is a great brunch option. Rainey Street is a popular area where bungalow style homes have been turned into bars and restaurants. Austin's 6th Street is another area filled with bars and live music, think Broadway in Nashville or Beale Street in Memphis, with three distinct sections and styles. Restaurants that come highly recommended from some friends in Austin, include Grizzelda's, Matt's El Rancho, Eberly, and Mattie's. If you are interested in learning some dance moves for the wedding, check out Broken Spoke for two stepping lessons. If you are hoping to spend some time outside, a walk around The Texas State Capitol or Lady Bird Lake are worthwhile!
If you have some time to spend during your stay, we also recommend visiting some smaller towns in the area. One of our favorite places is Gruene, TX located outside of New Braunfels. In Gruene you will find the oldest dance hall in TX, where George Strait got his start. We recommend grabbing a bite to eat next door at the Gristmill River Restaurant and exploring the local shops. The Guadalupe River runs through Gruene and is a popular tubing spot in the warmer months. We also love spending time in Boerne, TX, which you will pass on your way to Fredericksburg from San Antonio. Boerne has a quaint downtown area with shopping and restaurants. We recommend Peggy's on the Green or The Dodging Duck Brewhaus if you're looking for a bite to eat.
