Our Story

Christian and Maryli fell in love at second sight. After first meeting in Nicaragua on a Deloitte trip, the couple-to-be re-met at UC Berkeley during grad school. Christian asked Maryli to go to a scary movie as a first date — and even though Maryli a) didn't know if it was actually a date, and b) hated scary movies, she fell for Christian's goofy side and they were officially dating by Halloween. Before the pandemic, Maryli and Christian lived together in Oakland and adopted the world's cutest rabbit, Honey Butter. They moved to be closer to family over the next year, spending time in Glen Arbor, Michigan, with Christian's family and in Fayetteville, Georgia, with Maryli's family. They got engaged in January 2021 at Maryli's family farm, after an elaborate proposal themed after Survivor and involving a number of challenges (including building a fire with flint and steel). They're now back in San Francisco, and ready to embark on the next chapter of their story together.
