June 2015: We swiped right. Not one to play games, Cameron asked me on a date right away. I met him for a drink at the Other Room, a little intimate bar in the West Village. When I arrived to our first date I knew that my dream man was standing in front of me. We sat in a cozy little corner and talked for hours about moving to NYC - me from Maryland and him from Canada, our families, exchanged funny NYC dating horror stories, and right away I could tell what a great listener he was and wow did he make me laugh! After our date he suggested we walk to the waterfront, and we shared our first kiss overlooking the Hudson River. The next day I got a text from him saying that he wanted to see me again, and how about dinner that very next night?! Cameron continued to plan romantic dates for us all summer, and our love unfolded. I recently found a box of ticket stubs and little tokens I had saved from those early dates; A Whitney museum ticket, a movie stub from the Angelika indie theater; he was (and still is!) cultured and so romantic. 7 years of dating Cameron have been the best years of my life. He brings me happiness and joy each and every day. I am so grateful to get to experience his patient, gentle, unwavering love. On June 12th, 2022 Cameron proposed on a sailboat on the East River, underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. I can’t wait to marry the man of my dreams.
