Sunset at Beauty Spot
Beauty Spot is one of our favorite places in East Tennessee to watch the sunset and take in the view. There’s no hiking involved, it’s just a short walk from your car!
Historic Jonesborough
Nicknamed "Tennessee's Oldest Town," Jonesborough is located just minutes from Johnson City. When visiting you can walk along the beautiful Main Street, visit the International Storytelling Center, take a carriage ride, and check out all of the local shops! If you have the time, Jonesborough is definitely worth the visit!
Blackbird Bakery
Blackbird Bakery is a delicious 24-hour bakery located in Bristol, Virginia. It is about a 45 minute drive from Johnson City but if you have the time it is worth checking out! Near Blackbird you will also find downtown Bristol, tons of fun restaurants, and cool escape rooms!
Gatlinburg, Tennessee
For those planning to stay in the Tennessee area for a few days, the Gatlinburg area is a short 2 hour drive away from Johnson City and is a great place to visit. Gatlinburg offers a great view of the Smokey Mountains with lots of notable hiking spots. Sevierville is home to the famous Tanger Outlets while Pigeon forge is where you will find all the tourist destinations. Things to do include: A Skybridge (a suspension bridge that you can walk across while looking out over the Smokeys), go karts, putt putt, Ripleys Believe It or Not museums, food, and Pigeon Forge local shops.
