On December 31st, 2021, Callie (or as some of you know, Cali) was refusing to leave the comfort of her condo on New Year's Eve. Her neighbors convinced her to go out under the condition that Callie was the designated driver. Little did she know she would end up at a dive bar called The Rock Rest in Golden CO, which is full of cheap beer, taxidermy, and fried foods galore. As some of you may or may not know Callie's hobbies include yoga, Orange Theory fitness, and pole fitness. Since Callie found the one and only pole in that dive bar - and true to fashion showed off all her tricks. (She has a day job... this is just a hobby...) She had mentioned to her group of friends that one guy "over there" was really cute. That guy happened to be Riley. At the stroke of midnight, cue Riley asking for Callie's number. Riley was also the designated driver for his friend. They exchanged numbers and decided to go on a date January 1, 2022. Their first date also happened to be at The Rock Rest since everything else was closed New Year's Day. Riley proceeded to win every single game of pool they played by a landslide. Callie went home and declared to a few of her closest friends, "I think I found him." And she was right (as always).
During their first date Callie described where she lived. And after Riley described where he lived, Callie pulled up Google Maps. Our condos happen to be a 60 second walk away from each other. For a few months we'd both take turns hanging out at each other's home, taking the extremely short trek back and forth. After 5 months they decided to shorten that 60 second walk and Riley moved in with Callie.
Riley and Callie live in a neighborhood called Green Mountain. After picking out an engagement ring together perfect enough to satisfy Callie's eccentric taste, Callie was under the impression she would have to wait until February 2023 when they ventured to New Zealand to be able to wear the ring. Little did she know she was waking up November 5th to go to their newly found favorite brewery/dog park in Littleton, CO. On the way home Riley decided to take a detour and park near a trailhead at the bottom of Green Mountain. They hiked with their dog, Windu, to the top around sunset. Riley set up his camera and popped the question. (Callie knew something was coming since she was hiking in skinny jeans and a wedged shoe. Not her idea hiking outfit.) Riley recorded the whole thing. And if you get a chance to see the video you can see Callie jumping for joy.
