We met at Applegate Christian Fellowship July 2022 and would see each other randomly throughout the year. It wasn't until Holly was leaving the Medford area that Caleb asked her to hang out... Yes, it took Caleb that whole year and Holly leaving for him to realize that he wanted to get to know her. Our first date was a hike to a meadow in the Applegate Valley with dear friends of ours. We've talked everyday since April 12, 2023.
We spent the day in Cannon Beach, Oregon, sipping on some delicious Sleepy Monk Coffee, walking on the beach in warm sunshine next to Haystack Rock and simply enjoying time together while we waited to go watch a Robin Hood play at the Coastal Theater. After a few hours of sight-seeing and hearing about Holly's "Cannon Beach History", we made our way to Ecola State Park where we sat down with a view of Tillamook Lighthouse. Caleb had created and put together a memories book of our friendship from the first day he had called Holly leading up to what he was about to ask her. He pulled out the book and gave it to her. We laughed as we remembered embarrassing moments, looked at sweet and funny pictures, and recalled many sweet times. Then, as Holly turned the final few pages, her smile disappeared as her jaw began to drop. The last few pages revealed that Caleb had been contemplating a very important and huge question. As she looked through pictures of jewelry cabinets and Caleb's written thoughts, she realized what was coming next... Holly's could not stop laughing and smiling at what was about to happen till her face hurt. Before she could read the last page, Caleb stopped her. As Caleb began to say lovely, thoughtful things before he officially asked her, we kept getting interrupted by the tourists walking along the path we were sitting next to. Laughing that our intimate moment turned out to be not so intimate, we ignored the travelers and Caleb continued. The official ring wasn't ready yet, so Caleb pulled out a home made braided engagement ring. Then, boldly and bravely, he asked Holly to marry him. Which she was very eager to say yes!
