Our Story

Caleb and I met when the Lord called us both to Baja California, Mexico to work in missions in 2019. After being assigned to work together in creative communications, we quickly became besties. I had never collaborated with someone in the way that I did with Caleb, and from the beginning there was something different about my relationship with him. As we grew in our friendship, we both very intentionally sought the Lord for his hand in our relationship. As we prayed, God would continue to open doors and draw us closer together. After dedicating 5 months to serving in missions and completing our Discipleship Training School with YWAM, we decided to start dating. The first conversation that we had about our feelings for each other was covered in so much peace, in a way that I have never really experienced before. We jumped into 10 months of long-distance while I was living in Pennsylvania and he was living in Ohio. The Lord was SO faithful through those 10 months, and we grew so much individually and together. At the end of 2020, we felt the Lord calling both of us back to Mexico, and we currently live here as missionaries! As we've served together, our callings and desire to partner together for the rest of our lives have been incredibly confirmed. We're so excited to enter into marriage and cultivate the kingdom in our relationship and lives together! - Mya

The Proposal

I knew I wanted to propose to Mya early in the year of 2021. I bought the ring late 2020, but due to complications wasn't able to receive it to my house in Columbus until after we had moved to Mexico. When I finally was able to have it shipped all the way to Mexico it was mid-February and my plan to propose in March-April was in motion.. that is until Mya and I decided we were going to study the Bible intensely for 3 months. So again, my plans were delayed, but not all for nothing. During the time of our Bible School, I was put into quarantine for almost the whole month of June and was able to pray a lot about what the proposal would look like as well as work on a creative, story book I had been making ever since we started dating. Finally, Mya and I completed our Bible School, and the plan to propose was back on! I convinced Mya that I wanted to take some pictures by some of the cliffs close to our neighborhood along with one of our friends. Little did she know I was planning to propose shortly after our friend told us we should get some pictures together! Sneaking the ring in my camera bag, I pulled it out when her back was turned for a fabulous photo of us and *click* there I was with a grin on my face, my knee bent, and the confident but nervous words uttered, "Mya, will you marry me?". The rest is history, and me and Mya are so excited to be in this season of engagement, learning more about each other and drawing closer to the Lord. - Caleb
