Here is a brief story of our journey to get where we are now. Love is not easy and God had bigger plans than what we had originally thought. The road was not easy, but what God had us endure helped us grow our faith and trust in Him along side growing our relationship with each other. Kaitland played sports for my high school, Mercer Christian Academy. After basketball began, we began hanging out at games before I played. As we grew closer, we wanted to get to know each other and our families better. I went to church with her and her family every week. Not long into the budding relationship, Kaitland's dad was called by the Lord to start a ministry in Morgantown, West Virginia. This was a hard time on us as I had just started my freshman year of college. This caused a lot of hardship on us as we tried to figure out how to keep our relationship healthy. I was able to travel every other weekend up to Morgantown to spend the weekend with her and her family before traveling back for classes Monday morning. Long distance relationships are hard, and it took a lot of effort on both of our ends. When Kaitland graduated high school she got accepted into Bluefield State's accelerated nursing program. Her Nannie graciously opened her home to allow Kaitland to be able to go to Bluefield State to pursue nursing. This was a very exciting time for us as it felt we had survived the hardships of a long distance relationship. Kaitland loved looking as rings, and consequently, I was sent a lot of pictures. I was able to get the one she liked the best, without her knowing which was a feat in itself. I wanted to wait until she was done with her first year of college before proposing so she would not have any extra distractions before finals. On May 1st, I took her on top of one of the most beautiful overlooks I know and popped the question. Now we are eagerly awaiting May 21, 2022 to arrive so we say "I do".
