How We Met

Like most of this generation, Jare and I met online. Both recently out of relationships. I had activated my good ole tinder again and it took all of 1 day back on to realize I’d rather just accept living life as a dog mama for the time being. So I deleted the app but not my account. My account stayed up and on it was my Snapchat. Why my Snapchat was in there? I don’t even know because I very rarely add random people on Snapchat. One night I was bored at home and decided to upload a Snapchat story with one of those anonymous “ask me anything’s”. In flooded a bunch of messages from my sister and besties just hyping me up as girls do lol. Then I saw one that said “I added you and have been hoping for an add back for a few days” I thought wow that’s bold so I looked to see if I could see who was most recent and it was someone named Jared. Truth be told Jared doesn’t even think he’s the one who sent that message lol but he does always tell me he distinctly remembers waiting for like a week just hoping I’d contact him. (It was the picture in my coyotes jersey on my tinder that did it for him lol) I took a chance and added this random guy and when I say we non stopped talking after that I mean it. It was like we never ran out of things to talk about. We both had a love for hockey and actually had probably crossed each others paths on multiple occasions prior both being at the Peoria Az ice rink constantly, him to ref and me to cheer on whichever family member was playing that night. We bonded over boy meets world and I was sold when he paid for my Disney plus subscription as I wasn’t getting paid that week so I would’ve had to wait a whole other week. Jared was working night shifts for Amazon and I worked my 9 to 5 at the law firm. I barely slept those first few weeks. We’d be up texting at all hours. You’d think I’m crazy but the first time we met in person I was tired from work and he happened to have a night off I let him just come right over to my house. (Don’t worry Izzie was on notice and had my location) I survived not to worry. The rest is history. ♥️

Jared’s Perspective

When Caitlin and I started dating back in January of 2020 I had already had tickets with my parents to go to Isla Mujeres in Mexico in June. Only a few months after dating I asked her if she wanted to buy a plane ticket and join my parents and I on our vacation. I know she probably, likely thought I was moving fast. However, she was equally as crazy by agreeing to go. We were looking forward to our vacation but then it was put on hold due to the pandemic. To recap, she bought her tickets 2 months after dating and we would have gone to Mexico 3 months later. We were both maybe a little coo-coo. However, this ended up being a blessing in disguise for us. The next year in 2021 we re-planned and booked our vacation for October of 2021. I had planned at the beginning of the year to pop the question during this trip. I had bought a ring a couple months prior. Once we were in Mexico, one day, my dad and I left Caitlin and my mom at the beach for some time. My dad and I scoped out a spot I had in mind at Punta Sur. This was a cliff with clear water as the backdrop. We had found the perfect spot and planned where my dad would go to take pictures of the moment. The next day is when we planned to do so. I tried my best to help plan an outfit photo wise for Caitlin. My description to her of what to wear was throwing her off and confusing her (which I’m not sure why.) I had told her we are going on sort of a hike so dress comfortably, but also dress nicely in case we take some nice photos. As odd of a request that was, she had no idea what was coming. Unfortunately, I picked the hottest and most humid day of this trip. We were dripping in sweat most of the walk on this cliff to get to the spot. Caitlin was mostly distracted by the occasional iguanas hoping they didn’t attack, while I was nervous hoping all would go right. We started to walk through a tunnel-like part that gave us some much-needed shade. At this time my dad drifted away from us to get in his position above us to get photos. Caitlin was ready to go home because of the heat. I told her let’s go a little further and we made it to the spot. After we both looked at the water for a bit, I started to talk about how much I loved her and our life together. I then got down on my knee and popped the question. As Caitlin started to tear up either from being happy or the sweat, she was shocked and confused and asked how we had money for this. We both laughed and then she happily said yes. My dad got some great photos of the moment and we got to spend the rest of our vacation as an engaged couple. This place will always be special to us, and we hope to go back in the future.

Caitlin’s Perspective

We were out on vacation in Isla Mujeres with Maureen and Bob. I was in early stages of my pregnancy with baby Gray. Jared told me I needed to dress nice the next day but in shoes I could hike in. I was very confused 🤣 I was asking him what outfits looked good, now I later realized why he looked so stressed as I tried multiple outfits on. The next morning I could tell he seemed anxious. I even asked him if he was anxious because I could feel it lol. We got dressed and he was in a light teal button down with little sailboats on it, I remember because I loved that color on him and he had on sunglasses, he looked so handsome. We walked outside and realized it was probably the warmest most humid day of our trip which ended up being slightly comical in the end. We went and got on the golf cart and Bob drove us all out to “Punta Sur” which translates to south point, as it was the most southern tip of the island. It was absolutely beautiful. Everything you imagine an island to be, well minus some trees, it could have used some trees lol! The sun was beaming down on us. There were iguanas everywhere. Which low key one hundred percent freaked me out (I am not a reptile person) but they are cool to look at when they’re pretending to be statues! We took pictures of iguanas and our view of the ocean and in far off distance you could see I believe it’s Cancun or maybe Cabo? I could be sooo wrong lol. We started our hike which was actually going down not up. Again it was warm we were all sweating not even half way in. It’s funny because right before we got to THE location, there was a little tunnel cave. We stood in there for a while to cool down and pat off our sweat. Little did I know, Jared was sweating for multiple reasons. Bob had snuck off at this point to go get to a location to take our pictures which I thought nothing of, if you know Bob, you know he’s always exploring and beats to his own drum. After wiping as much sweat as we could and drying off to the best of our abilities we kept walking. We got to a spot that over looked the ocean and is honestly the most perfect spot for a proposal in my opinion. We were looking over the ocean and Jared started to tell me how much he loved me and our life together, I honestly thought nothing of it, Jared is very sweet with his words to me all the time. Then I realized he started kneeling. Now listen… ideally I wanted to be getting engaged in that year but I did not think it was in our cards money wise. Unfortunately, my little noggin was so in overload my first sentence was “How? We don’t have money… what?” Hahahahah I felt sooo bad but Jared says it was so on brand for me lol. I obviously then said yes a million times and was in complete awe at how beautiful my ring was, he truly nailed my dream ring. Then I noticed Bob with his camera! We took some more beautiful photos and made the hike back up all while talking amongst each other about how crazy this was, how beautiful the ring was, and that of course it was the warmest day! 😂 I think being preggars held me back a little that trip but it truly is a trip I will never ever forget.

For all the days along the way
