I was a freshman at the University of Colorado, Boulder and lived in the dorms and just so happened to live on the same floor as one of Hunter's best friends, Peter. Hunter was attending Regis in Denver at the time and would often come to Boulder to visit. We met in 2012 and we were both in relationships at the time, but definitely had a connection. Hunter likes to tell people I had a crush on him since day one, but we all know Hunter was the one with the crush! Anyways, we remained friends throughout the years. Fast forward to 2015 when we were both single. Peter had friends over and we both were there. We chatted and enjoyed our time together, but I eventually had to leave and Hunter walked me out and gave me a kiss and the rest was history! Hunter asked me to be his girlfriend on April 5, 2015 at Garden of the Gods!
We had a trip to Spain planned for Labor Day weekend. This was going to be our first trip out of the country just the two of us! Unfortunately, Covid happened and we were unable to go. We still wanted to go on a trip and take advantage of the long weekend, so our friend invited us to Vail. We (a small group of us) got up to Vail Thursday night. We ended up just hanging out Friday & Friday night because we wanted to hike Saturday morning. Once Saturday morning hit, Hunter started rushing the squad (very unlike him). He said we needed to start the hike at 9am sharp. Looking back, it definitely seemed suspicious however at the time I thought nothing of it...I honestly thought he wanted to take advantage of the day. We got to Lions Head right before 9am and a few of us wanted to stop at the French Bakery, but Hunter was on a mission and said we could stop after. We (10 of us + our pup, Rev) began hiking up Berry Picker. The hike took about 2 hours. When we got to the top, Hunter asked if I wanted to take a photo with our pup. We took our photo and he got down on one knee and attempted to open the ring box. On his first attempt he tried to open it backwards! After a quick adjustment, he looked up asked me to marry him. We both think I said yes at that moment in time, but we both blacked out and cannot say for sure (if you need clarification "YES HUNTER")!! When Hunter went to put the ring on my finger, he put the ring on the wrong hand AND my fingers were too swollen from the altitude so the ring wouldn't fit.. At that moment in time, we hear "woohoo" "congrats" and I look over my shoulder and see 10 more of our good friends hiding with champagne! Everyone came running over, popping champagne and at that point it was just a celebration with our 20ish closest friends.
