This beautiful hotel will be the venue for our wedding on May 24, as well as our primary accommodations for out of town guests. We have secured a small block of rooms in this hotel for out of town guests. Note that the hotel is filling up - they currently have rooms available for the night of the wedding but longer stays may be more challenging. There are a number of rental properties available in the grounds of the hotel should guests want more space. Airbnb is the best way to book one of these. If you want to stay in a hotel and cannot get into the host hotel for the duration of your stay, we suggest you book one of the other hotels in Enniskillen town center. This is about 3 miles away but taxis are available. You could consider the Enniskillen Hotel or the Belmore Court Hotel. There are also some Airbnbs available in town. Please reach out to us if you need any help with accommodations.
Enniskillen is a small scenic market town in County Fermanagh. The county is rural and predominantly composed of lakes and beautiful vistas. There are another number of attractions such as historic homes, ancient monuments, boat tours, underground caves, forest parks, and hikes - this website will give you a sense of the activities available. We personally love the Cuilcagh mountain (Stairway to Heaven), Lough Navar Forest Drive and viewpoint, marble arch caves, and the round tower on Devenish Island. The town itself has a castle (with an interesting museum) some famous pubs, excellent tea shops, cafés, lakeside walk, and independent shopping. We love William Blake’s pub - locally known as Blakes of the hollow, the Jolly sandwich, Kamal’s Indian restaurant among others. The tourist information office is inside the Castle museum. No admission necessary to speak to member of staff or pick up some brochures.
Most of the attractions close to Enniskillen that are not actually in County Fermanagh, but are over the border in the Republic of Ireland. A beautiful 30-minute drive brings you to County Donegal https://www.discoverireland.ie/donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way https://www.thewildatlanticway.com/ with cliff walks, beautiful beaches, and quaint towns. We recommend the cliff walk and wishing chair in Bundoran! Also less than an hour away is WB Yates country (County Sligo) featuring a spectacular glaciated valley, mountains, and more beaches. There are coaches from Enniskillen to Donegal town, Ballyshannon, Bundoran, Sligo among other destinations. www.cie.ie.
While the most famous Northern Irish tourist attractions are further away than those nearby in the Republic, a couple of hours drive (or less) will take you anywhere in Northern Ireland. Our favourite attractions include the Giants Causeway on the North Coast, the Titanic Museum in Belfast, and the much closer Ulster American Folk Park, which may be of interest to Americans with Irish roots. There is an extensive coach network (ulsterbus) that can take you from town to town in Northern Ireland - check out translink.co.uk for more details. Unfortunately, many attractions are out of town so you may need to get taxis or rent a car to reach them.
This local car service is very reliable. You can make reservations by phone or Facebook messenger. They can collect you from airports, other cities, the resort, or other accommodations and take you on short or longer trips. You can also rent vehicles (with driver) of a broad range of sizes for some hours or a day to tour the scenic areas beyond the resort.
You can travel to Enniskillen via Dublin airport, Belfast International Airport, or Belfast City Airport. The Belfast airports are a 1.5-hour drive away and the Dublin airport is a 2-hour drive away. There is a modern coach from Dublin airport to Enniskillen at the website provided below - it has Wi-Fi and takes around three hours. If you want to sightsee beyond Enniskillen, we recommend that you rent a car (if you don’t mind driving on the left side of the road!) However, there is a lot to do in the local area, and the venue and accommodations are co-located. Please contact us if you want any help with transportation. US, Canada, and EU citizens will need to apply for an ETA (much easier; here's a link -> shorturl.at/lGyOE) or UK/Irish visa. Indian citizens will need to apply for a UK or Irish visa. There is no immigration or customs control on the border crossing between Northern Ireland and the Republic.
