As most post-Covid, modern day love stories begin, our story starts on the dating app: Hinge. We instantly bonded over our mutual love for wine and rom-coms. If you know Erin at all, you know she is not one for small talk, especially not through texts, so we decided to grab drinks for our first date. Going into the first date, neither one of us had any expectations on how it would go or what would come of it. And almost five hours later and probably too many drinks for a Wednesday night, both of our lives would change forever. I never believed people when they said, “I knew the moment we met I was going to marry her,” until I got home the night of our first date. From that date on, I knew Erin was my person and that one day she would be my wife. So, over the next few dates I just did my best to convince her that I was her person too, including letting her beat me at mini-golf! Over time Erin and I continued to learn more about each other and realized that we were opposites in almost every aspect you could you think of, well outside of our politics and morals. From what we like to eat, to our different levels of showing emotion, down to what we like to do in our free time like reading versus watching any type of sporting event. As we continued to spend time together we realized that our differences were a perfect match for each other. We learned to accept each other, love each other, and embrace each other’s passions, even those as important as turning her into a UNC fan (and me a Sooner fan)! And as time went on, I had eventually convinced her that I was her person too. This all led to Friday, August 25, 2023, when I asked Erin to spend the rest of her life with me. I proposed to Erin in our backyard and we celebrated by going back to the restaurant of our very first date. The following day I surprised her with an engagement party with some of our closest friends and family members. And here we are today! We are overjoyed with the amount of support we have and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone on our wedding day. See yall on the dance floor!
