The year was 2006. Dan and I had our lunch period together. We had some mutual friends who all sat at the same table. Dan was a goofy emo kid who dyed his hair and wore skinny jeans. I was, well I don't really know - I tried a lot of different styles in high school. Anyway, we became friends. We used to walk to the school store together to get cookies. Dan says that he used to flirt with me because he had a crush on me - could have fooled me. We had a joke that we were married, and we put each other in our "flip phones" as Dan Husband and Angelica Wife (crazy, I know). Dan graduated high school a year before I did. We saw each other a few times over the years throughout college. Then we ran into each other at the gym almost 10 years later. Dan looked very different. He now had this beautiful long, wavy hair that any girl would kill for. A couple of months later he messaged me on social media, and we started talking. A couple of months AFTER that he finally got the courage to ask me out on a date. We went on dates for a little over a month, and he finally asked me to be in an "adult relationship" with him. I was hesitant to take that next step, so I told him we should wait a little longer. Well, the next week goes by, and I asked him to ask me again. This time I said YES!

Dan planned a little getaway for us in Greenport. He rented a huge Airbnb. Now, at this point, I had already accidentally seen an email of his from the jeweler that I wanted my ring from, so I kind of suspected this was the weekend. However, our friends had just gotten engaged a few weeks before, so that made me think maybe he wasn't going to propose. Anyway, we drove to Greenport that Friday, checked into our AirBnb, went out to dinner and walked around the deserted town. It was a beautiful fall night. The next morning we went to breakfast, drove around a bit, and then went for a nature walk. This was a trail through the woods that led to a dock. I was walking in front of Dan the whole time. He was taking his time because there was a couple in front of us that he wanted gone from the dock. As we get up to the dock, the couple that was walking in front of us was walking off the dock, and they were smiling pretty brightly at us when 5min ago they barely looked at us. I later learned this was bc Casey and Melissa told them what was about to happen. So we get on the dock, and I was admiring the scenery. Then Dan started to make a speech, which I really don't remember because I was so overwhelmed with emotion. He was still talking, and I look to my left and saw our two good friends standing there with their phones out recording the whole thing. I started laughing and still hadn't answered Dan. He finally asked me again and i said YES! I then started to ask a million questions, like did my family know? did his family know? where the hell were Casey and Melissa hiding? So we go to the Greenport Brewery for a little while. We started to get hungry, so I suggested we go to this restaurant for apps and drinks. Little did I know about the huge surprise waiting for me. All of our family and closest friends were there waiting for us. We partied all night. It was the most beautiful day and the most beautiful surprise! I cannot wait to marry my best friend.
