Endless options here if you're looking to get short of breath while Fort Collins is only at 5,000 ft. it is easy to get above 10,000 ft. with a quick trip up into the mountains. Around Fort Collins A great hike near town which has some good views is Horsetooth rock. There are lots of more mild options as well that can be found in the abundant green spaces around Fort Collins. A little more adventurous (within an hour from Fort Collins) Rocky Mountain National Park is a great place to get away for a few days. There are great views at all elevations from 7500 ft to above the treeline. Wildlife is running rampant, you're sure to see some neat stuff. Besides hiking there are plenty of other great outdoor activities to give a shot. Some of which are: White water rafting, Fly fishing, Mountain Biking, Tour a Gold Mine, and Scenic Train Rides.
For the gals - Old Town Fort Collins is home to many nice boutiques, restaurants, and neat buildings. For the guys - There is a Scheels just down the road.
