Burk Anthony McDaniel was born in Nebraska (corn born, baby) before moving to Great Falls, Montana where he was raised. Many of his childhood memories include traveling the state either playing hockey, or watching his siblings do the same. Hockey is, and always has been, a big part of the McDaniel way of life. Junior year, Burk worked up the courage to move out to Florida to pursue his dream of playing elite hockey. After a year down in Florida, he was recruited by the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid, NY where he graduated Valedictorian and a captain of his hockey team. After his high school graduation, he spent a year playing Juniors Hockey in Missoula, MT before heading back out to New York to start college in Oneonta. He began his finance degree at Hartwick College. Eventually transferring to Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA to finish his degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude from his father's alma mater. Quinn Kambo Hartman was born and raised in Great Falls, MT. Like Burk, Quinn spent many of her childhood weekends traveling for athletics, mainly basketball or softball. Much of her upbringing involved being surrounded by her large family, and watching her dad coach several Rustler football teams to state championships. Growing up, it would be hard to find Quinn away from the court or field, as she was always watching or playing sports with her cousins and brother. In high school, Quinn helped lead the Rustler softball team to a state championship victory, sharing the field with some of her best friends. Surprisingly enough, even with her parents both graduating as Grizzlies from the University of Montana, she chose to be a Bobcat. She attended Montana State University in Bozeman, MT and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering, with highest honors.
Quinn and Burk met in seventh grade, when they both attended North Middle School. A quick bond began to form, as they were constantly begging their parents (or older siblings) to take them to watch each others sporting events, go to the movies, or up to Quinn's house. If there was a weekend without sports, you could find Burk and Quinn down in the Hartman's basement with a stuffed crust Pizza-Hut pizza and movie. As high school began, they both needed room to grow as Burk went out of state to continue his hockey dreams. They always kept in touch, meeting up for coffee or ice cream whenever Burk was back in town for holidays. They both always hoped their paths would cross again. During Quinn's Sophomore year of college, while Burk was back East at Hartwick, the timing was finally right. At the time, Quinn was in Bozeman, and Burk in New York, so logistically they weren't sure how everything would work. They did, however, know one thing: they were absolutely in love with each other. That following summer, Burk transferred to Gonzaga to be closer to Quinn. He traveled almost every weekend to Bozeman, where he was an honorary Bobcat. A couple years later, they both graduated with their degrees and got jobs in Irvine, CA. This was Quinn's first time away from home, and she was anxious to get to experience another state. Burk started his career at Ayco, A Goldman Sachs company as a financial analyst, while Quinn found herself working for Advanced Sterilization Products as a technical engineer of sales. In the fall of 2020, Burk proposed (with their dog Callaway by his side) on Laguna Beach. Being in the middle of the pandemic, they began to rethink their long term goals. If there was one good thing to come out of the pandemic, it was the ability to work remotely. So when Burk secured a position at D.A. Davidson, they packed up their CA life, and moved back to Great Falls with their favorite furry friend, where Quinn continues to work for ASP remotely.
