We met at our college (Hobart and William Smith) and crossed paths a few times the first couple of years. Sophomore year, we were both at the bookstore and Henry decided to ask Sam how her summer was - we talked the entire time…. Then didn’t see each other for a year! First day back Junior year, we were both at the same bar and Sam struck up a conversation with Henry. Again, talked the rest of the night and as they say… the rest is history!

For those of you who don’t know, Sam has a cabin in Bridgton, ME where she grew up going every summer. In 2022, after Henry had visited the cabin for the first time, Sam told Henry at the airport going home that she was ready to get engaged at some point in 2023. Then started a year long planning for Henry. Flash forward to Maine 2023, Henry (who loves a sunrise) asked Sam to go on a super early morning hike. Sam had an inkling that something may happen but didn’t really know because Henry was being very calm about the whole thing. Woke up at 4:15am and headed to the mountain. A short hike later, we got to the top with some gorgeous views. At sunrise exactly, Henry knelt down and ask Sam to marry him and between a lot of “oh my gods” and “holy shits” Sam said “Yes!”. They then spent the next hour on the top of the mountain, carved initials into the tree, danced, and headed home to where Sam’s family had prepared a big brunch to celebrate! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in September!
