Ryan's mom invited me for a meal in Houston when she and Bob were supposed to be travelling down for a work trip. I made a lunch reservation at a local restaurant within walking distance of my apartment. Of course it was 110 degrees in Houston, but I decided to get some "fresh" air and walk the 15 minutes over there. I arrived promptly and checked in for our table then waited outside for Gretchen and Bob to arrive. About 20 minutes later I received a text from Gretchen that said "Crisis Mode! Can't find my wallet and in a panic so we are going back to the hotel to look for it. Ugh!!! We'll just meet you at your apt and we can do late lunch/happy hour. Will keep ya posted, so sorry". Very sweaty after being in the Houston heat, I sulked back to my apartment. When I walked through the door, I found our kitten Preston running around with a collar he wasn't wearing when I left. He's always into trouble, so I figured that he must have managed to put it on himself somehow. When I went to take it off of him, I saw a post-it note attached to the collar that read "Will You Marry My Daddy?". Confused, since Ryan lives in Ann Arbor and Preston only has one Dad, I called out for Ryan... and he emerged from my bedroom. Shocked, I immediately had a lot of questions about how he got there and what he was doing. He told me to shut up (which is hard for me), and got down on one knee and proposed! I proceeded to ask more questions about how he got there and eventually remembered to answer his only question... I said YES!!!
