So technically, Bryan and Ashton met briefly in passing one night in 2014 when she randomly got invited to go to his bands show at Chain Reaction in Anaheim by her best friend, Dani. But the real story truly began just a few months later. Bryan and Ashton had both had quiteeee a long day. Ashton had just returned home after a long day with family, spending time with her younger brother, and driving in traffic. Bryan was knee deep in the middle of touring all around the west coast, and Taylor Woodis, a dear from of both of them, was filling in for Bryan's band at the time. When Ashton arrived home from her dad's house, she soon realized she had left her house key inside, and none of her roommates were home to let her in. That's when she got the call from her bestfriend, Dani, letting her know that her and Taylor were already on their way to pick her up to go to a party with their friend, Bryan. Since she was locked out, she had no choice but to say, okay lets do it. Both Bryan and Ashton both weren't in the most social of moods, but they went along anyways, and ended up spending the entire evening sitting on the kitchen counter tops laughing and shooting the breeze. It was that weekend that Ashton spent watching Bryan's band perform and hanging out more. They exchanged numbers, and the rest is history! From doing long distance for 2 years, moving into to their first studio apartment together in Burbank, to getting married, they never could've imagined that one silly party would change their lives forever!
Bryan had told Ashton he had to go to Huntington Beach at the beginning of December to have a meeting with a potential client. They decided to make a week of it and go to LA beforehand, and their friend Tevyn decided he was going to tag along to the OC with them (secretly knowing the whole plan ahead of them). They showed up to the Kimpton Shore break Hotel right along the beach. While he was having said "meeting", she was distracted with a s'mores out door fire pit that the hotel was offering that night! Tevyn and Ashton laughed around the fire pit, all while Bryan was upstairs setting the scene. She returned to their hotel room to find Bryan, surrounded by candles and flower petals and Ashton's favorite snacks and drinks. He got on one knee and popped the big question, and Ashton said YES! (all while holding a to go box filled with leftover s'mores, which felt perfect for them.) But that wasn't all! After face timing our parents to share the news, Bryan led Ashton down to a beautiful surprise dinner on the patio overlooking the beach with some of their closest friends and family. It was a night to remember. Bryan had some how went totally under Ashton's nose for months, planning every single detail of the proposal, down to him drawing a custom designed ring, made with so much intention and love by Kristina Jacob. Ashton's mom Lisa passed down a bee pin that belonged to her mother (Ashton’s grandma) to help create the ring set of her dreams!
