Dustin & I met in the summer of ’07 in the town of St. Wendel through mutual friends, watching the group of guys skateboard & ramp off anything that looked sketchy. I remember seeing him (full blown skater boy) - and asking my sister & our friends “Who’s that and is he single? Cause I call dibs.” They laughed, but I wasn’t kidding. Fast-forward to that night at our friend's house one of my friends came up & said he wants to talk to you. So we met & talked and kept everyone wondering what was happening and being said. That same night we found each other on A.I.M (..yes, I know) - I didn't even have a cell phone yet! After days & nights of chatting - soon we were young kids with late night phone calls after he was off work. Me trying to answer before the household heard it and having my mom yell my full name. We spent about every weekend together. I pretty well lived at Swonders, and loved it. We were together 2 years together back then. Before high school came for me, we parted ways for a few years, not very willingly. But time passed and low and behold, we connected again at just shy of 18 & 20 years old. Our first night together after years passed was different as we were a lot older, but all those old butterflies made their way back up and it just felt right. Soon again we were a pair. A few months into "talking" as everyone called it, he asked me if I ever thought we’d end up back together. I said, “without a doubt.” “Me too" he said, "I’m just happy I got the chance to again.” Moral of the story- don’t ever doubt your intuition. A year or so later, our new anniversary date became August 14, 2014. Then 5 years, our first home, and (a lot) of animals later - I said yes to forever on December 31, 2019 on Honeymoon Harbor island in Bimini, Bahamas. Imagine me being me, snorkel goggles in hand trying to swim with the nurse sharks as he's saying my name to turn around and I'm like "I'm going in!" ...I clearly did not see a proposal coming at all. Although my sarcasm had him thinking I was on to him on the boat ride leaving out that day when I looked at him & said “did you bring my ring?” 😊 I was totally kidding.. internally he was thinking “she knows”. Luckily, he just picked a jokester & I was totally in the blind. So much so, when I responded "are you ***** kidding?!" he had to ask again until "YES" came out. Our wedding date is just 2 months shy to the date of our 10-year anniversary! Looking back, I can't believe how fast a decade plus of time has gone by. I've always said what's meant to be will find its way! That being said - we can’t wait for everyone to join us in this next step in life!
