They officially met in 2011 through mutual friends at Penn State. However, their love story truly began in 2012 when they both moved into the same apartment building senior year of college. They first saw each other in the elevator during move-in day and Garrett asked Brooke if she and her roommates wanted to come to his apartment and pregame that night. Brooke still recalls texting her best friend saying, "OMG, I think Garrett Venuto lives in our apartment building!" Following that first pregame, they found themselves at the same bar, the notorious G-man, and Brooke sealed the deal by making the first move and kissed Garrett! Within weeks they became inseparable and quickly squashed any initial thoughts of being single their senior year. They continued their romance after Penn State with Brooke living in Baltimore and Garrett in Virginia and NYC. After 3 years of long distance, Brooke moved to NYC where they have lived together ever since! From living in separate cities to living together they continue to explore and create new memories and adventures along the way!

They had dreamt about experiencing the amazing restaurant, Blue Hill at Stone Barns for years. One lucky day in May, Garrett told Brooke he finally got a reservation (it takes months!) for Blue Hill on 9/6/2018 (just days prior to their 6 year anniversary). Garrett says this is when the planning began! The weekend approached and Brooke had NO IDEA of what was to come. Meanwhile, since making the reservation, Garrett had bought a ring, lost 10 pounds, and was an anxious mess from keeping the biggest secret of his life (AKA telling everyone he knew including friends, family and the local delivery guys that he was about to propose!) As the day approached, Brooke's only inkling to something being "off" was Garrett's new, constant, complaints of "heart palpitations." On the night of September 6th, they found themselves in a private barn on the Blue Hill property. There, Garrett gave Brooke a photo book documenting the story of their relationship. On the last page of the book, Brooke read "I have one question for you..." When Brooke turned around, Garrett was down on one knee with a ring. After many, "OMG's" and "Are you serious?!?" Brooke answered the easiest question of her life with a simple, "YES!" They both cried, called their families, and then proceeded to eat a 25 course meal. It was the best night of their lives! *Don't worry, following the proposal, Garrett's "heart palpitations" ceased and he is currently thriving and in good health #shreddingforthewedding
