One of our favorites - Loro is a Texas BBQ/Asian fusion spot. Casual atmosphere and fun for groups.
Our favorite sushi spot (also in Houston), we celebrated our engagement here.
Great dinner spot located in the the lobby of our favorite hotel, The Proper.
Local Foods is another one of our favorites - seasonal menu with sandwiches, soups and salads
Perfect spot to grab breakfast tacos!
The pool bar/restaurant at the Tommie/Thompson has a fun atmosphere and nice views.
6th street is separated into two sides - East & West. The Thompson is located right off of East 6th/Old 6th/Dirty 6th which has more older and dive bars. West 6th Street is less rowdy than Old 6th Street and many fun & trendier bars and better restaurants.
Rows of cute bungalows have been transformed into Rainey Street, a lively scene of restaurants, bars and food trucks.
Visit the Texas Capitol building. It’s open for free tours seven days a week.
Great walkable street with place with shopping (local boutiques and national brands), grabbing a cocktail or bite to eat and seeing some iconic Austin places like the Austin Motel sign, I love you so much wall and views down to the Capitol. Get here by Uber or renting a bike or scooter.
Lake Travis is about 30 mins from downtown. It’s a lot of fun to rent a boat and hang out on the lake. The water is clear and cold. There are several companies that offer boat rentals for various size groups.
The trail around lady bird lake is fairly shaded and easily accessible from Downtown. We’ve enjoyed morning walks on this trail on our visits.
