We first traveled to Antigua together in November 2021. We love the charm, the history, and the setting and want nothing more than to share a place we love with family & friends. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is packed with tasty restaurants, interesting ruins, and fun bars. It is also extremely walkable allowing easy access to all it has to offer.
If you don't wish to stay at Porta Hotel Antigua or the room block is full, we have several other recommendations! 1. Pensativo House Hotel 2. Hotel Aurora 3. El Convento Boutique Hotel 4. AirBnB / VRBO
You must have a valid passport which has at least 6-months until the expiration date. If you planned to enter Guatemala on December 6, 2024 (the day before the wedding), your passport could not expire prior to June 6, 2025, or you risk being denied entry to the country. The local currency is the Quetzal. You will be able to withdraw money from ATMs at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City or use the currency exchange kiosks there or in your departing airport. Many restaurants and stores accept credit cards, but it is advisable to carry some local currency as well. Money can also be withdrawn at banks/ATMs within Antigua after arrival.
For travel to and from Antigua we recommend coordinating transportation through our wedding planner at patty@brideandgroomgt.com (see Travel page) or directly through your hotel of choice. For other destinations in Guatemala we recommend reaching out to your final destination or AirBnB host for private driver recommendations. Let us know if you have any questions!
