We’re getting married!

Dennis and Brooke met during the midst of finishing up their last year in school. Brooke went to school at Aveda and had found Dennis through a mix of online connections, and mutual friends in the area. They had their first date at a small pizza joint and the rest was history. Although this was simpler than most first date destinations, they talked and talked for hours, to the point where they had no idea the restaurant had already closed for the night. Through conversations about life goals, music, (and of course food taste), they almost immediately knew they were the ones for each other.

In the midst of COVID, Dennis had graduated PT school and landed his very first job. Brooke had been excelling in her first year of hair, and they decided it was time to get their first apartment together. This was one of the biggest (and most challenging) steps in their relationship. They moved to Kenwood and started this new chapter of life together. Here, they have flourished in traveling to many places including the USVI, Washington, Mexico, Colorado, and many more. They found peak happiness in traveling to new exciting places with mountains, beaches, skiing, and incredible food.

Brooke had wanted her own furry best friend for quite some time since living on her own. After months of convincing, Dennis agreed it was time to bring a new love into their lives. They brought home Gus, their 8 week old Goldendoodle, on July 10th of 2021. They had never been so in love with anything else. Gus had become their legitimate child. Spoiled, and loved like no other. He even got his very own room! Gus is now 2 years old, and living his BEST life with them. He rules the house and has more toys than you can count. He loves ice cubes, chin scratchies, his blue fox, and ohhhh so many snuggles on the couch. He has also definitely stolen the hearts of their friends and families.

Dennis and Brooke had been talking about marriage for some time now. They believed it was almost time to reach that next step in their lives. They started planning their next trip like they’d normally do about every 6 months, and decided to go out of the country. This was Brooke’s first international trip, and they found a beautiful resort in Cancun, Mexico. Brooke was so excited that this trip landed in her birthday week. What’s a better way to spend your 25th? This couldn’t beat anything else. Their second day on the resort was her birthday. They spent all day drinking piña colada’s and sun bathing on the beach. Brooke had always wanted to be on a boat for vacation, so they decided to book a sunset cruise later that night to celebrate another year of life. This was the perfect moment for Dennis to make the big surprise move. The got dressed up, headed out to Isla Mujeres with charcuterie & wine on one of the most beautiful evenings of the week. Dennis asked someone to take their photo with the sunset in the background. Luckily, this girl knew exactly what he had up his sleeve and caught the whole moment on video. Dennis posed with Brooke for a photo, and then got down on one knee. Brooke was taken completely by surprise and said YES! Although he picked the *scariest* spot on the boat and the moment caused Brooke to nearly fall overboard, (lol) this was the most perfect proposal and was full of tears, hugs, and laughter. The whole boat cheered, and the captain blasted “marry you” by Bruno Mars over the speakers. It was a perfect night. What a way to REALLY spend that 25th birthday! They had the whole rest of their week on vacation to enjoy their engagement and celebrate!

Dennis and Brooke had thoughts of ending their 2.5 years at their apartment in Kenwood. They searched and searched and couldn’t find anything they liked. They had thoughts of buying a home, but didn’t think it was possible just yet. One day, Brooke’s mom sent her a link to a new development near Newtown, OH. Brooke fell in love and just had to go see what the hype was about. They had a meeting with Ryan homes and realized now was their chance. Not only will they be buying their first home, but it was going to be brand new. The thoughts of ever BUILDING their first home had never crossed their minds. They signed the papers, and construction started in January of 2023. After months of waiting, and living with family for the final 3 months, they moved into their brand new beauty on May 22, 2023. They have been enjoying every moment and are so excited to host future dinner parties and have friends over for movie nights! Gus, of course loves all the stairs and loves going to the neighborhood dog park.
