On a beautiful summer day, James and Brittany met at a mutual friend's house in Tower City, PA. It was "Sunday Fun Day" which included volleyball, swimming, and a campfire. During volleyball, James and Brittany were chosen on the same team. As soon as James saw Brittany's volleyball serve, he knew she was the one for him. At the end of the night, James asked Brittany for her number and the rest is history.

James and Brittany were attending the annual Barristers' Ball at Penn State University. Just like the year prior, the group was going to meet up at a friend's house before the ball for drinks. Brittany got all dolled up for the fun night ahead, unaware as to what James had planned for her. Once James and Brittany arrived for drinks, James told Brittany he forgot something in the car and had to go get it. Brittany went ahead inside without him. Immediately, Brittany noticed rose petals, and realized it was happening. In shock, Brittany walked through the perfectly decorated house, collecting roses along the way. Brittany met James outside on the porch, along with all of their closest Penn State friends. He got down on one knee and asked Brittany to marry him. Without hesitation, she said, "Absolutely!"
