We first met in college at Wash U. We were both student athletes (I played tennis and Chris ran track). I rode a bike on campus because I lived in the farthest dorm from campus that year. When locking my bike at the bike rack at the athletic center, I accidentally knocked down the bike next to mine. It fell on top of another bike, and the handle bars and wheels turned so it was tangled with the bike below it. I tried to pick up the bike before anyone saw. Before I could, Chris walked out of the athletic center and saw what happened to his bike. Chris loved that bike so much that he kept it in his dorm room at night locked to his bed. I apologized several times, and Chris said not to worry. After he untangled his bike, I was so embarrassed that I rushed into the athletic center. Chris now claims that he would have gotten my number if I hadn't rushed away so quickly.

Luckily, we later became good friends and stayed in touch even after Chris graduated college. In 2012, we started talking about visiting each other that summer because Chris's family's vacation spot in Maine was only a couple hours away from my family's vacation spot at TLV in New Hampshire. Chris drove the 3 hours to see me in New Hampshire. At first, I thought we were just friends, but everyone else knew otherwise. My Grandma Barb winked at Chris from across the dining hall table throughout dinner. All of my family friends in New Hampshire said: "No guy drives 3 hours for just a friend!" Grandma Barb was right. We started dating that summer, and we've been together ever since.
