Hoyt went out with his guys, Britta went out with her girls, and both groups ended up at The Ivy for New Years 2014 in Atlanta. A miscommunication with the bartender resulted in Hoyt ending up with more drinks than he could carry. At the same time, Britta went to the bar and noticed a guy struggling to explain to the bartender that no, he did not order the many drinks lined up in front of him. A few weeks later the two reconnected, and the rest is history.
It was early January and Britta made mention that she would like to visit a new brewery that had opened by her parents in Sandy Springs. Little did she know that Hoyt was in the process of planning a way to ask for her hand and quickly realized that it would be the perfect venue for a surprise proposal. A few days prior to the big moment, Hoyt and Britta agreed that they should finally go up and see what this place is all about. To avoid any red flags, Hoyt suggested that Britta invite her sister, Chloe, and her boyfriend, Steve, to join us. Shortly after 4:00pm on February 17, 2018, the owner of the brewery approached the group to chat and offered an “impromptu” private tour of the facility. Steve had strategically walked to the bar and Chloe insisted that we should go without them. Once inside the brewing warehouse, our guide stated that he needed to step away for a moment. While Britta was distracted by the guide’s sudden departure, Hoyt dropped to a knee and pulled out the ring. They left the brewery newly engaged and the two met with family and friends to celebrate the day.
