The Master Mind, AKA Megan Kendzior (Nellie’s s coworker and partner-in-crime & Brit’s cousin) had been talking us up to each other for months and plotting the perfect opportunity to bring us together. Being as persistent as she is, it all came to fruition on Friday, May 6th, 2022. Nellie had other plans after work that day and Brit was ready to hit the town after being cooped up after his first run with COVID. During the work day, Brit reached out to Megan and asked what her plans were for the night. Megan and her husband Timmy, like most summer nights, had a plan to go to a MN Twin's game and extended the invite to Brit. Before accepting, Brit asked if anyone else was going and Megan knew right away what he was really asking. From that moment, Megan turned around to update Nellie of her text exchange with Brit, knowing that Nellie had other plans that night, and was not going to take "no" for an answer. Nellie was the last one to show up to Darby's Pub & Grill (RIP) in Minneapolis' North Loop where Megan, Timmy, and Brit were enjoying a beverage on the back patio before the game. The conversations got rolling, we all walked to the game, and the rest was history...

What started as a weekend visit to see a Whiskey Meyer's at Red Rock's with Nellie's friend Kristin, Megan, and Timmy (referenced above); ended up becoming the big proposal weekend which took place just outside of downtown Boulder. Brit had secured the ring just the night before they departed for Denver and was envisioning a beautiful sunny day to pop the question. It was a four night trip that ended up being filled with inclement weather and cool cloudy days. On the final day of the trip the group took a drive out to Boulder to enjoy some beverages at Avanti rooftop bar downtown. In the middle of the afternoon, the sun started to peak out and Brit realized this may be his best opportunity to propose. When Nellie walked away from the table Brit divulged his plan to the group and requested their assistance in convincing Nellie that the group should go on a hike nearby to the Artist Point lookout on Flagstaff Mountain. The group finished their beverages and the plan was underway. It was a very short hike from the parking area and Nellie was leading the charge out in front of the group. Nellie was captivated by Eagles flying by and had no idea Brit was standing behind her on one knee with Megan and Kristin filming from afar. Nellie turned around in disbelief as Brit has successfully surprised her with a proposal. (Just a few weeks earlier she told him he would not be able to surprise her and that she would anticipate when it was coming.) ...Just moments later she said YES!... Brit had the ring in his pocket the entire day waiting for the perfect moment to set the plan in motion. There were warning signs she later realized she missed, like Brit asking her what she was wearing that morning, saying he couldn't sleep the night before, and that he was sweating on the drive up the mountain. The group spent the evening celebrating and topped off the perfect ending to the fun-filled weekend.
