After numerous phone conversations between the two, Dakota was in town from working in Louisiana to volunteer for Strawberry Festival. So, he invited Britney to hang out with him in person. She spent the whole weekend with him and met the parents who were out there volunteering too, which may have been a little too soon but that didn’t scare her away. As the weekend ended, he had to go back to work in Louisiana where they spent the next few weeks talking on the phone again. Mind you, he was working nights and she worked days so there wasn’t much time their schedules lined up but they made it work. The weeks went by, he came home and they were FINALLY able to go on their official first date and that’s when their love story began!

As y’all know, Dakota travels for work. He was working in New Jersey so Britney flew up there from Houston to drive back with him the 2600 miles. They stopped to see friends along the way and had some other adventures on their journey back home. Well little did Britney know, Dakota was carrying this object in his pocket the WHOLE journey. Dakota planned out this perfect way to propose in Georgia on top of a mountain that over looked Hiawassee, GA but the weather was not working out in his favor! So he had to figure out another way but he began getting anxious. Well after there weekend stay in Georgia, it was time to travel home and the anxious Dakota couldn’t hold it together anymore so he stopped on the side of the mountain road, got down on one knee and proposed to Britney. Of course she said yes!
