Riding a bus to Hume Lake summer camp, Brie and I were strangers. Brie and her friend Karynnah were sitting behind my friend Joey and I. I knew of her, but as a 15 year old, there was no chance I was going to try and talk to her. I talked to Joey about Brie, and in an attempt to introduce us, he leaned his chair back into Brie's friend. We introduced ourselves, but only as good as awkward young boys can. Once we got to camp, everyone began bringing their bags to their cabins. I knew this was my chance. In an effort to impress Brie, I offered to take her bags for her. She may have thought she was just suckering some guy into taking her bags, but I knew I was in. Now looking back at it over seven years later, taking those bags for her was the most important thing I've ever done.
