A+B

Our first date was October 3, 2017 at Pangea Bier Cafe in Sacramento and it turned out to be a successful “swipe right”. Anthony had recently transferred to Intel’s Santa Clara campus for work but made frequent flights back to Sacramento on the weekends while Brie painfully drove to the South Bay (albeit less frequently) to visit. Even with the distance and Brie’s schedule as a surgery resident, they were able to see each other at least every 2 weeks. After 2-3 months, and lots of chips & salsa and Mountain Mike’s sticks, Brie knew Anthony was the one. But, of course, Anthony being the logical and practical one, it took him getting sick in Lisbon, Portugal and Brie getting antibiotics from a doctor in Paris, for him to entertain the idea of marriage. Once Anthony moved back to Sacramento, everything fell into place. The two were able to share their love of food at places like Beast & Bounty, Localis and Mulvaney’s (a surprise for Brie’s birthday) as well as frequent visits to Tako Korean BBQ and Ernesto’s. On weekends, they were often wine tasting in Napa so it is only fitting that the two were engaged at Artesa winery, the first they visited together and one of their favorites. Brie was fairly convinced they would be getting engaged in March or April while on their second trip to Europe, but Anthony was able to surprise her by bringing two of her friends, Jeni and Laura, to celebrate her “1000th surgery” as a resident, when really, he had the ring in his pocket the whole time. It was the best of surprises and the beginning of the next chapter of A + B.
