Nate and Bridget met at Western Michigan University. It was Nate’s last semester of college and Bridget had one year left. Nate and Bridget had a class together and Bridget had to bat her eyes to get Nate to come sit next to her. Nate finally decided to sit next to Bridget and he even asked her out on a date through a message on Instagram. Bridget having the biggest crush on him of course said yes to the date. Nate told Bridget to pick whatever restaurant she wanted; Bridget warned Nate that she has expensive taste as she picked Olive Garden. As many of you know Bridget LOVESSS Olive Garden. Nate and Bridget went on their date to Olive Garden and had the best time getting to know each other. Nate and Bridget had a few more dates planned throughout his last semester in college including other restaurants and a Detroit Tiger’s game where they sipped on frozen daiquiris.

FAST FORWARD TO 2019…. A couple years have passed but Nate and Bridget kept each other on social medias and would randomly check in on each other. January 2019, Nate made contact with Bridget through Facebook. As they caught up on messenger all night long, Nate again asked Bridget on a date. Bridget excited and yet nervous, of course said yes to her college crush. Hop Cat was where the date took place and even though a few years have passed they caught up like no time passed at all. A few dates later, Bridget was getting ready for an interview at Nate’s place. The day of the interview, the Polar Vortex hit, the interview was cancelled and Bridget was snowed in. She ended up having to stay for 5 days with Nate (for those who can remember there was no going anywhere during that Polar Vortex). Bridget was bummed about the interview but that gave the couple time to have deep talks, stay up all night laughing, and that’s when they fell in love. February 2019, Nate and Bridget had big Valentine’s day plans and due to Bridget’s job, she did not get home until very late but when she got home, Nate was standing there with a handmade box, candies, music playing and a slight smile on his face. Bridget gave him the biggest hug as he still made the day special, they ate, they slow danced, and he asked Bridget to be his girlfriend. A bunch of great dates and mini trips later.. December 2019 came and Nate and Bridget bought their very first house together.

June 12th 2020, like everyone else facing the pandemic of 2020 and being trapped inside, we were trying to find fun things to do to pass the time inside the house. They do game nights a couple times a month and it usually goes a little something like this. Bridget picks the game and 90% of the time Nate wins the game. This game night was different! Bridget decided to play Madden 20. Nate laughed and said, “I guess you still don’t want to win because I’m not losing in Madden”. Let the game begin! First quarter comes and Bridget scores a touchdown, she jumps up with clear excitement, but does not make the extra point field goal. Score is 6-0, Bridget. Second quarter comes, Bridget throws an interception and Nate scores a touchdown and of course makes the extra point, score is 7-6 Nate. (half time begins). A bunch a smack talk occurred, the third quarter began, but neither team scores. Fourth quarter began, Bridget knows she needs to make this happen. Nate gets so close to scoring a touchdown, but the defense stops him. Bridget gets the ball with not much time left. She gets down to the 30-yard line on 4th down and she knows this field goal is it. This field goal determines the winner. As she prepares the kicker and pushes the x button on the controller. She closed her eyes nervously to open them to see..

.....she was WAY off. Final score 7-6, Nate wins. Bridget gets off the couch and says, “this game sucks, I’m ready for bed”. Nate laughing too hard saying “You really thought you were going to beat me in Madden”. Bridget starts to walk up the stairs to head to bed, sore-loser style. Nate goes “Bridget”, she continues to walk upstairs and says, “nope I’m going to bed”. Nate goes “Bridgetttt” and Bridget almost gets to the top of the stairs and then she hears “Bridget come here!”. Bridget rolls her eyes waiting for Nate to talk more smack about winning. She turns around which felt like slow motion, to see Nate getting down on one knee with a ring box in his hand! Bridget with the biggest shocked smile on her face, gasp with complete surprise as tears of joy immediately filled her eyes, and Nate said to her, “Bridget, you are never going to beat me in Madden, but you can win as my partner in life. Will You Marry Me?” Bridget runs to him, jumps to sit on his knee, and gives him the biggest hug and kiss ever and said “YES OF COURSE!!”.
