We were on our first international trip together in Iceland. On the fifth day of the trip John found a hike through a lava field he wanted to go on (a hike which wasn't on the detailed itinerary Bridget had created for the trip). We hiked about 3 miles through the moss covered lava formations up to a giant volcanic dome. John insisted that we hike to the top of the dome and started climbing up the side off the trail. Bridget found the actual trail to the top and followed up. Once we met at the top, we took in the 360 degree views of the mountains, lava beds, and ocean, without another person in sight! Bridget turned around from taking a video and saw John down on one knee. She squeaked, said "YES" and promptly demanded "put the ring on my finger". We felt on top of the world!
