The two of us met at a mixer event in Centennial Park as part of orientation week at Lipscomb University. Luke had brought a frisbee, and Brianna decided to catch it. We kept tossing the disc until the event ended . . . and then barely spoke to each other for the next year and a half. 😂 Our frisbee-flinging was nearly forgotten as we drifted along the edges of each other's social circles, until our friend groups began to overlap in early 2018.
Towards the end of sophomore year, both of us reconnected through group lunches in Lipscomb's cafeteria, trips to The Soda Parlor, and Mario Kart sessions at Nathan Bell's apartment with a handful of friends. Just as we were getting to know each other well, Brianna set off for a semester abroad in the United Kingdom. Even on different continents, we kept in touch through bad puns, memes, and fan theories about Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
After Brianna returned from London (and after spending a few more weeks trying to pretend we weren't interested in each other), we enjoyed a low-key dinner at Shake Shack and took turns playing the piano in Lipscomb's practice suite until it closed, an activity we would enjoy on many future dates.
With our equally eccentric senses of humor, it didn't take long for us to become an inseparable duo. Almost three years later, we attempted another trip to Shake Shack. We were surprised to find it had closed due to the icy weather, but upon returning to Brianna's apartment, she was even more surprised to find that her living room had turned into a candlelit dance floor! (Thank you, Ashley and Nathan!) After dancing together to Adele's "One and Only," Luke asked her to be his one and only for the rest of their lives. We're so blessed to be each other's biggest fan and are so excited to share the joy God has given us with family and friends!
